Junior Development

Cannon Mountain's Junior Development Program is designed for kids ages 3–14 who want to ski with the same coach and kids all season long. Groups will be split up by age and ability level. The program caters to a wide variety of abilities from first-timers who just want to cruise down groomers, to more experienced riders who want to learn to zip through moguls or explore the glades. Participants can choose to sign up for Saturday programs, Sunday programs or both.

Program Dates: December 14 - March 29 (Excluding 1/18 and 2/15)

These smaller groups are focused on fostering a love of skiing at an early age. Groups will work on developing the skills to ski safely and independently.

Program Dates: Dec. 14, 2024 – March 29, 2025 (Excluding Jan. 18, 2024 and Feb. 15, 2025)
Length of session: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (lunch 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. with parents)

Groups:
Freeride groups (ages 7–14): Freeride focused groups will not only spend time sliding and jumping in the parks, but also learning how to apply freestyle elements to other parts of the mountain. These groups are for children that can already ski bumps, trees, and steeps at a high level.
Intro-to-race groups (ages 5–14): Intro-to-race groups focus on developing skills to make them successful in a race course. These groups will work on building the core skiing skills needed to race. There will be two race days for the group over the course of the season. This program is designed for children who have little to no experience racing but are motived to learn. Children in these groups must be able to confidently ski in a controlled wedge on green terrain and are working on skiing in parallel.3
All-mountain groups, Ages 5-14: All-mountain groups have no specialized focus, other than improving the skills needed to navigate the mountain safely and confidently. These groups are for all levels of children who want to explore the mountain and learn to shred.
