CANNON WELCOMES VETERANS AND FAMILIES TO MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY
Franconia, NH (Jan. 17, 2025) — Cannon Mountain is proud to once again host its annual Military Appreciation Day on Sunday, Jan. 26. The full-day event, co-hosted with the Azimuth Check Foundation, recognizes and celebrates the bravery, service and sacrifice made by the men and women who have served or are currently serving in the US Military.
All active duty, retired, reserved and veteran members of all military branches will receive a free lift ticket (proper military identification required) as well as discounted rates for up to three family members.
The festivities will kick off at 11am with a flag parade, national anthem, color guard presentation and words from a special guest. A Blackhawk Helicopter will be on display for guests to explore and recruiters from a variety of military branches will be on site to provide information about opportunities in each branch.
Special guest speakers this year include Lieutenant Colonel Kurt Webber, former Olympian Kristina Sabasteanski, Lieutenant Colonel Eric Furey and keynote speaker Lieutenant General Harry Miller.
“In 1928, Franconia Notch was dedicated as a memorial to the valiant men and women who served in times of war,” said Jace Wirth, Cannon’s General Manager. “On Military Appreciation Day, we pause to thank our heroes, but what we do is intrinsically linked to and in honor of those who serve to protect our nation’s freedoms and interests each and every day of the year.”
Those looking for some friendly competition will have the opportunity to race a veteran down the Time Zone trail. The registration fee for the race is $20 and all proceeds will benefit the Azimuth Check Foundation. Additionally, guests can participate in a raffle at the Peabody Lodge.
“Military Appreciation Day is an expression of respect and gratitude for the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country,” said Jennifer Karnan, Cannon’s Director of Marketing and Sales. “Providing these folks with a meaningful tribute on snow along with the opportunity to make memories with their friends and family is an honor.”
